It was a gorgeous afternoon and a little surprising that OMT decided to put Rickmansworth into but but they got just reward when Azeem was caught at the wicket without scoring. Harvey then joined Mat at the crease and went into overdrive scoring 11 boundaries in a sparkling innings of 58 before he was caught behind.

The platform of 85 for two was wasted a little as batters came and went and at 130/7 Ricky looked like wasting a great start. Ethan and Tom put on a good last wicket partnership and the final score of 185 was pretty decent in the circumstances.

The OMT players were very capable, including their overseas player, but Rickmansworth kept taking wickets to stop them from getting away. Syam took the first three wickets to fall and Tom had the overseas caught for a duck. Then it was Harvey’s turn to bowl and he took three for 24 including some spin towards the end and at the drinks break OMT were 90/7.

However OMT were not done yet and they played very sensibly scoring at four an over to take the game very close whilst only losing a couple of wickets. The tension was palpable as the final pair put on 31 runs and levelled the scores. Tom then produced a peach of a ball that caught the outside edge of the batsmen and Azeem snaffled the catch to end with a most exciting tied game.

The competition was just what Sunday cricket is about. A wonderful contest.
